I will be making my first trip in the next 7-10 days. With the cool temps this weekend in Erie and rain there may be a few fish moving in….and by that I mean a few. But if you’re in the right place at the right time you can put a few fish on the bank before anyone else is even thinking of fishing the streams. Early morning hours are a must, and you may even find a few early runners well past the lower areas of the streams that have sought out cool oxygen rich water under waterfalls and fast riffles. An early trip may include spoons and spinners in the lake at the mouths, jigs and Flatfish lures to fish that have run into the wider estuary type areas, and even float fishing in quicker water further upstream. You never really know how you will be fishing and where until you get there. Even 1 fish landed or a couple near misses will be enough to count the trip as a success, and get you ready for the upcoming season.
