First nice push of fish came in overnight. Landed 3 fish before 715 am, 4 more up until around 11 am before they shut off. All fish 5-8 lbs. 4 on Flatfish lures, 3 on jigs. Nasty fights with long runs, screaming drag, and acrobatic jumps from fish who recently went from 80 feet of water to 5. Steelhead want to chase when they first come in. Big fish with a head of steam and energy are used to eating big meals in the lake. With not much in the streams to feed on they will inhale decent sized offerings right now. Triggering them with jigs and lures like Flatfish and spoons/spinners at the lake mouths will get you into fish. We should see bigger pushes in the coming weeks but most importantly we have our first phase of fish coming in and out of the creeks. I’ll post pics later. Unfortunately good camera died but I have some Blackberry pics to put up. The season has officially started.
