Just wanted to put up some words from anglers I have guided this Fall. It means a lot as a guide to know clients had rewarding experiences and lasting memories on their trips. Pictures are ordered in the same way as these testimonials. The link for their reports and the rest of the pictures from their day of fishing follows each quote.

“I have fished all over the U.S. and Canada but had never done the Steelheads from Lake Erie. On my first day there Joe Baker put me on fish and taught me so well that I was able to limit on large fish under adverse low water conditions. The day I fished with Joe I learned something significant about Steelhead and how they should be caught.” -Steve Maxwell, Philadelphia, PA

“Joe, thanks for a great day of Erie steelhead fishing. Hannah really had a great time. Your attention to details and abilities as a fisherman are top notch. She cant wait to hammer steel with you again. Thanks again and see you in the snow soon.” -Scott, Bradford, PA http://eriesteelheadexperience.com/archives/474

“Joe, just wanted to thank you for all you did for Adam and I on our trip of 11/11. I hope you know how much it means to a Dad to watch his son land his first Steelhead. The smile on his face is and was priceless, I enjoyed that part of the trip more than the actual fishing. You made our day a very special Father/Son experience that we will remember for a long time. Thanks for giving us this special memory.”

“As someone who has fished the Pacific Northwest for Steelhead my best days consisted of 5-6 hookups with 2-3 fish landed. Seeing the numbers of fish in Erie amazed me but even better was that Joe had me hooking and landing fish all day while many others fishing the same pool were not. His jigs and jigging technique, though new to me, quickly became second nature after his detailed instruction on how to present them to fish and why. I look forward to coming back soon for another trip.” -Dave, Virginia

Scott and his daughter Hannah made the trip from Bradford, PA. Hannah, 11, was out for her first Erie Steelhead. Shortly into the morning she lost a couple and then landed her first fish floating nymphs through a nice pool. The entire day was spent on a larger trib with water flow dropping and water clearing. The conditions got tougher by the hour but both persisted with Hannah landing more fish on Flatfish lures and Scott landing a nice 9 lb hen on a Flatfish. More fish were hooked but fish were becoming increasingly tougher to catch toward the end of the day. To Scott’s credit his fishing time was at a minimum as he spent much of the day just watching his daughter fight fish. I could see the joy on his face and understand why he didn’t feel the need to fish for himself most of the day. Just taking in the nice weather and capturing the memories from a day they’ll both remember for a long time. With Hannah’s ability there aren’t many spots on the Erie streams that are safe anymore. I know they will both have some incredible days on the streams whenever they return. Enjoy the pics.

Dave and his son Danny made the trip from the Pittsburgh area. We spent the entire day on a larger trib from the upper to middle section. With good flow for the first time in weeks Dave quickly landed fish in the first few hours on single eggs and nymphs. Going to another section Danny started to land fish on skein drifted through a dark pocket of water. Later on another stretch holding decent numbers of fish they both were able to get into more fish on Flatfish lures, finding many fish locking on to the lure and going after it 5 or 6 times until they finally inhaled it. The flow stayed good through the day and the cloud cover helped. Father/son trips are always awesome days. Look forward to those days myself in a few years. We could still use more rain and some new runs but if we get the rain forecast this week December will fish nicely. Enjoy the pics.
