As you guessed the streams are high and brown at this moment but dropping. Some creeks will fish tomorrow if there is no new rain overnight. Obviously when they drop we will know what type of run we have. Fish have been off the mouths for the last 2 weeks so some will come in and any that were in the streams will move up.
I took last week off due to the high temps and low water but I’ll be on the streams regularly until they freeze in the winter and I’ll be posting reports often.
Usually the end of September sees the smaller streams start to get runs and the larger tribs start to get fish in the middle stretches. In one day myself and clients can be hooking fish on spoons and spinners in the lake, jigs and Flatfish lures in the streams, and float fishing single eggs, egg sacks, skein, and a handful of fly patters from nymphs to egg patterns to wooly buggers. It’s a great time of year to catch fish in a variety of situations using multiple techniqes from one rod.
Looking forward to getting back on the streams for the next few months, seeing new and old faces, and most importantly, catching fish!

Fish are in in good numbers in the major tributaries. Fished yesterday and found good numbers roaming the lower stretches, and many fish in the lake battling the waves trying to get in. Hooked fish on Flatfish lures, jigs, and single eggs. It will only get better with rain. No pics from yesterday….camera battery was dead. I’ll hold off from posting a photo of a whole steelhead on the grill last night.
This weekend might be busy on the streams.

A few streams were brown yesterday and some were clear and had no fish at all. I wouldn’t say the season is in full swing yet but we have some fish around that are hot and ready to strike.
It has begun…… -JB
