Sean, Drew and I had a great day fishing with Joe. It was obvious from the start that Joe is very knowledgeable in regards to the area and the techniques needed to have a successful catch. The conditions were somewhat challenging early in the day and Joe showed great patience in getting us started and educating us on proper techniques. I had the opportunity to talk with other area fishermen as we headed back to the truck and our day proved to be much more successful than the others in the area. Lee and I had a fantastic time fishing with you. Your focus on teaching and how to interpret fish reaction was very insightful. I went back to where you took me and caught 11 steelhead and 1 brown trout. Your jigs you gave me and single eggs were the ticket. I had a four cast four fish result at 4:00 on Wednesday, a first for me. I had fly fisherman asking me what I was using. I will definitely be calling on you in the future, earlier in the year I hope! As someone who has fished the Pacific Northwest for Steelhead my best days consisted of 5-6 hookups with 2-3 fish landed. Seeing the numbers of fish in Erie amazed me but even better was that Joe had me hooking and landing fish all day while many others fishing the same pool were not. His jigs and jigging technique, though new to me, quickly became second nature after his detailed instruction on how to present them to fish and why. I look forward to coming back soon for another trip.

On my first day there Joe Baker put me on fish and taught me so well that I was able to limit on large fish under adverse low water conditions. I made the trip up to Erie last year with my 10 year old son to try out stream fishing for Steelhead. As an avid Chesapeake Bay and offshore Atlantic fisherman, I thought I lived in the heart of some of the best fishing this country has to offer. I soon found out that the streams off of Lake Erie produce some of the best fishing I've ever experienced. Joe's patience with a "Steelhead Rookie" and my young son was truely commendable. Despite frigid temperatures in the teens and floating ice, Joe put us on fish after fish. We came home with 7 large Steelhead and lost many more as the fish dove under the ice. This was unquestionably one of the best fishing trips I have ever had and he can count on my business year after year. I sent Joe back some great pictures that I hope he'll use for his website and you can see for yourself our results under his guidance.

I have fished in Erie with Joe many times and I can honestly say that there hasn't been a time where I came home empty handed. He always puts me on the fish and shows me what to use depending on the current conditions, and instructs me thoroughly on each technique. Just being around Lake Erie and its tributaries and seeing the thousands of giant Steelhead right in front of you is worth the trip alone.
